Earth Week Dining

Earth Week Dining

Hi everyone, a few weeks ago during Earth Week the dining hall did different plant-based food Tuesday through Thursday. A variety of foods were offered each day. I went every day and reviewed the dishes. Now let’s see what food is there to try.

Tuesday Earth Week Dishes

On Tuesday, which was the first day of plant-based week. they had three options cauliflower pasta with cheese sauce, Brussels sprouts with Caesar dressing, and eggplant meatballs.

Cauliflower Pasta with Cheese Sauce

This was my favorite thing I had today. I love mac and cheese, so I liked this a lot. The cauliflower pasta tasted really like regular pasta. I at first thought it was regular pasta until I reread the description. I did not taste the difference. I loved the cheese sauce on it. It tastes just like mac and cheese.

Eggplant Meatballs

I was excited to try this. I  like eggplant so I was curious about what an eggplant meatball would test like.  I was kind of disappointed because it did not taste like meat like I was expecting it would. It still had a lot of flavor. It was also chunky because there were a lot of vegetables, so the consistency was not the same as a normal meatball.

Brussels Sprouts

I did not like this one. It did not taste like Cesar at all.  I normally like Cesar, so I was disappointed in this. It tasted more like horseradish than anything else.

In conclusion this day was a little bit disappointing, but I am glad I tried it. I did really love the pasta though.

Wednesday Earth Week Dishes

On Wednesday there was a vegan chorizo dish, mango quinoa, and strawberry quinoa cake with vanilla Greek yogurt frosting.

Vegan Chorizo

I have never tried chorizo before this. I thought it was spicy because I heard that chorizo is supposed to be spicy. I do not like spicy food that much. I was happy to find out that it was not supper spicy.  There is also a lot of flavor in this which I liked.

Mango Quinoa

I love mangos. It is my favorite fruit, so I was excited about this. It was good. The mangos added some good sweetness to the quinoa. It was a good sweet and savory mixture.

Strawberry Chia Cake

I really liked this cake. It was a vanilla cake with vanilla Greek yogurt frosting and strawberries. The frosting on top was very flavorful. I could taste the geek yogurt in the frosting. It was not as sweet as regular frosting. It was probably because of the Greek yogurt. The strawberries were super sweet, so it made up for lack of sweetness in the frosting. The one complaint I have is that the cake was not as fluffy as I would have liked.

Overall, I really liked Wednesday’s meal. I was pleasantly surprised about how much I liked it. This was my favorite  day of earth week food.  I loved everything they had.  I was especially suspired about the chorizo because I thought I would not like it.

Thursday Dining Hall Dishes

The last  day the dining hall had special food for Earth Week was Thursday. On Thursday they had smoothies. I love smoothies so I was excited about this. There were a few options for flavors, so I tried two of them.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

I was not a huge fan of this one. I was not as sweet as I would have liked. It was almost like there was not any fruit in it giving it sweetness. I also could not taste the strawberry. I could make a better one at home.

This one was a bit better. I was surprised that I liked the one because I am normally not a big fan of green apples. I like red ones a lot more This one had a lot more flavor. It was not as thick as I would have liked. It is a lot more like a juice than a smoothie.

Overall, this was not my favorite day. I was disappointed because I was really looking forward to smoothies.

This concludes the review of plant-based food. I had a fun time trying all this new food. I hope everyone enjoyed this article.
