Let’s talk about Area15 Las Vegas today. Now the first thing you need to know is that Area 15 is not “Area 51,” but it’s intentionally named as a play on the renowned super-secret defense base. You may have heard before, Area 51 has been popularized by numerous “discover aliens” enthusiasts, and the name play is where all the fun begins.
You won’t find him at Area15!
Of course, Area15 is an entertainment complex known for immersive experiences and restaurants – not aliens! It is free to go inside but if you want to do any of the experiences you have to pony up – not spaceships, but old-fashioned $$$. The experiences range in price. This was my first time going and I went with Emily. We had been talking about going for a while so when the day came, we were ready to go.
Outside Area 15
Area15 is located on a busy street across the freeway from the Las Vegas Strip. Scroll down to the end for its exact address.
The adventure starts when you get out of your Uber and emerge into the unique setting. It starts out with an assortment of interesting artwork, like a little sculpture park, with food trucks and a bar. There is stuff to do even before you go inside!
Now let’s venture inside
Omega Mart at Area15
The Omega Mart is one of the most popular things to do at Area 15. From the outside it looks like a grocery store with weird things throughout like a tattooed chicken. However, If you go through the secret passage you enter a psychedelic world. There are a ton of cool lights and sounds. It also takes a while to go through all of it. And there is a lot too it. It is $ 49 a person. Las Vegas locals can get in for $39. So, bring your Vegas ID. It can be pricey, but in my humble opinion, this one is worth it… give it a try.
The Beast by Toad English
After Omega Mart we decided to get a snack at The Beast. The Beast is one of the restaurants in the Area15 food court. Emily and I both got Dole Whip Floats. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you may recall I previously reviewed the Dole Plantation in Hawaii, home of Dole Whip. But, this one was different from what I had in Hawaii. It was Dole Whip mixed with sprite and whipped cream with sprinkles on top. It was super refreshing and tropical. We both liked it a lot.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I liked Area15 a lot. There is a lot to do there and you can pick which experience you want to do. It was one of my favorite experiences I have had this year. I want to go back and experience some more things. But, one downside is that the Omega Mart is at a high price point. Nevertheless, if you have the budget, it can be a fun thing to do in Las Vegas that does not involve resorts, dining, casinos and conventions.
