Now for the fourth installment in my exploring Las Vegas series. For today, let’s go over to the LINQ Promenade and do a review. For this one, I went with my friends Special thanks to Gaby who is a talented photographer who shot a lot of the photos you’ll see here.
The LINQ Promenade was one of the places I have never been on the strip, but have wanted to go there for a long time. Finally its time came and off we went. But astoundingly the Las Vegas weather did not hold up and it was pouring rain in Las Vegas…in the desert! Well, that is not what you normally would expect, but it provided an added element of adventure for our night out.
What is the LINQ Promenade?
The LINQ Promenade is quarter mile long strip of restaurants, shops and attractions, with the Las Vegas Strip at one end and the “High Roller” Ferris wheel at the other end. The Promenade is a only for pedestrians and you will not see any cars speeding through, and it is situated between the LINQ Hotel and the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. When you go over there you cannot miss that it is vibrant and lively filled with a variety of attractions.
Besides the giant “High Roller” at the end, you also will notice the zip lines above, and every minute or so you’ll see people go flying by about 50 feet above. Here are some of the spots we hit:
Gordon Ramsay’s Fish and Chips
Gordon Ramsay’s Fish and Chips is a popular fast-casual restaurant located in the LINQ Promenade. As its name suggests, the restaurant is sponsored by the celebrity chef of the same name. It’s greatest renown is fish and chips, but it also has some really creative sauces to go along with them. I got the mango curry and the southwest ranch to go with mine. I have to say that these were not ordinary fish and chips. The breading was so fluffy and delicious, with a texture almost like pancakes!
The “Chips” were what we would call French Fries, but with fish and chips you call them “chips,” following the British practice. And those chips were interesting as well. Just like you could dress up the fish with different sauces, you could fancy up your chips with different toppings and herbs. For mine, I tried out the Truffle, Parmesan Cheese, Chives, and Parsley.
I also really liked the herbs on the chips. It was a nice twist on French Fries. Also the sauces were not super strong so they did not distract from the the flavor.
But even in the rain, there large crowds, and i can be difficult finding seating. But be patient and eventually you’ll find a spot, like we did.
Sweet Sin
SWEET Sin is a dessert shop located in the LINQ Promenade, specializing in cupcakes, macarons, cake pops, and other sweet treats. Both Gaby wanted to try it so we decided to give it a try. I got a macaroon cake. It had Vanilla Sponge Cake, Raspberry Crème Brulee, Icing, and a Birthday Cake Macaron. I loved it so much. The cake was so moist and the frosting was amazing. The raspberry shell was a fun addition as well. Overall, Sweet Sin is a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth visiting the LINQ Promenade.
Selfie Museum
The museum features a variety of colorful and creative backdrops and installations, each designed to provide the perfect backdrop for a great selfie. It was so much fun and we got a ton of amazing photos. My favorite was a room with rainbow lights on the ceiling. Here is a picture:
High Roller
The high roller is the huge Ferris Wheel on the LINQ Promenade. Here are some of the vital stats it claims:
- Tallest observation wheel in the world. It calls itself an “observation wheel,” not Ferris wheel. In all likelihood they decided to do that because you spend a lot of time seeing the view, looking down on the lights of the Vegas strip, and it does not spin much.
- Height: 550 feet (167.6 meters)
- Number of cabins: 28
- Ride duration: About 30 minutes
From the top of it you can see the entire strip. We were originally planning on taking a ride, however, it was closed because it was raining so hard that the area at the base of the high roller was filled up with water!
