Flights Restaurant in Las Vegas Review

Flights Restaurant in Las Vegas Review

This is a restaurant dining review of “Flights,” a popular spot in the Miracle Mile Shops in the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. As the name implies, Flights’ specialty is making “flights” of each dish. This means that you get three mini-versions of each dish you order, each prepared a different way. I wanted to give this place a try and review for a long time, and finally the opportunity arrived, on a girls night out with a couple of friends.

And, off to Flights we flew. Sounds fun, but how was the food? Let me tell you…

Main Dishes

Steak With Potatoes and Green Beans

One of my friends ordered this dish. The steak was decently prepared – juicy, she said. The potatoes had a lot of flavors. However, my friend did not like the green beans. She said she has had much better green beans at other places, and seemed to know what she was talking about.

Empanada Flight

I ordered the Empanada Flight. It came with 3 empanadas in different flavors, Mushroom and Truffle, Chili Cheese, and Spiced Beef.

Spiced Beef Empanada

This was my least favorite of the three empanadas. I thought it was way too spicy, even for someone who likes some heat in their empanadas. Also it was hard to find the beef in it. There was so little beef that when I first tried it out, I thought it was the the Chile Cheese empanada, not the beef, my first bites completely missed the little bit of beef hidden in there. I only found the beef at the end of it.

Where’s The Beef!

Chili Cheese Empanada

This was my favorite of the three empanadas. It had mild heat, and I loved how the cheese melted inside of it. I also loved the cilantro sauce on top.  But opinions can vary, and my friend tried it and disagreed with my review. She thought it had too much cilantro. Well, if you like cilantro as I do, it was great!

Mushroom Truffle Empanada

I liked this one. The filling was super creamy. I also loved the mushrooms.

Overall I thought this was ok. However I did not get enough food. It was not worth the money.

Mac and Cheese Flight

One of my friends got a Mac and Cheese flight. The three flavors bacon, truffle, and six cheese. She doesn’t like bacon, so she got two of the six cheese dishes, and the truffle.

Truffle Mac & Cheese

This one was too garlicy. The garlic was all that I could taste, we could not taste the truffle.

Six Cheese Mac & Cheese

This one was a bit better. It was super creamy and cheesy.

Overall, my friend was a bit disappointed with hers. She said she has had better mac & cheese in other places.

Drinks

Lemon Drop Drink

My friend ordered a lemon drop drink that we all tried. It was like the bartender poured the whole bottle into it. So that could be good, or just too much. For us, it was too strong in general. But, my friends still liked it a lot and split three ways it was not overwhelming any of us. The sugar rim was the best part. On the Flights Las Vegas website, it said that this drink was color changing. However ours drink was not.

Desserts

We could not decide on just one desert, so we we got two.

Cheesecake Flight

I love cheesecake so I wanted to try this one. The three flavors were strawberry, blueberry, and chocolate caramel.

Strawberry Cheesecake

This was everyone’s favorite. The strawberries  were sweet and complemented the cheesecake so well.

Blueberry Cheesecake

This one was a bit disappointing  The blueberries were a bit bitter damaging the overall impression of the whole dish. But, at least they were real blueberries, not artificial.

Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake

None of us liked this one. It was too chocolatey, with the chocolate flavor predominating and basically hiding the caramel flavor too much.

Overall, the Cheesecake flight was a bit disappointing

Brownie Sundae

This was one of my favorite things I ordered. The brownie was super rich. It also tasted amazing with the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.

All in all we enjoyed the originality of the Flights restaurant concept, but on the night we flew in, it was disappointing, especially at the Las Vegas Strip dining expense level. For an entertaining fun time, you can try Flights, but just come with low expectations for the food.
