Italy on Campus

Italy on Campus

It was Italy night on campus, and here is my review.  Every month my dining hall does a themed night for a specific country. So far we have done Asia, Mediterranean food, Germany, and Mexico. And now finally we had Italy which I had wanted them to do for a while. I love Italian food and it is one of my favorite cuisines so I was super excited about this and trying all the food that they had to offer. Now lets go to Italy!

Veal Parmesan

The veal parmesan was the best thing I had on this night. I love chicken parmesan and so I decided to try it with veal since it was something different. I liked it better than chicken parmesan. I find it more moist then chicken. If they ever served it again I would gladly eat it.

Caprese Pizza

I love caprese salad so I was curious to see what it would be like in pizza form. It was super good. It had really good cheese on it. It was an interesting new take on one of my favorite

Shrimp Scampi

I did not try this but one but one of my friends I was with did. She did not like it that much. She said that she could not taste the sauce. She said it just tasted like plain shrimp with no extra  flavor from the sauce. She said it was a bit disappointing because of the lack of flavor.

Tiramisu

I liked this a lot. It had a really good flavor and the cream on top was really good and mixed well with the rest of the desert. It also did not have a super strong coffee flavor which I liked because I am not the biggest coffee drinker.

Garlic Bread

Typically the garlic bread at UNLV is really good. It is one of my favorite things to order at the dining hall.  However this time it was not good. It was too hard and crunchy. It also did not have much flavor. It needed to be softer and have more garlic.

Hot Chocolate

They had a coffee cart outside the dining hall because coffee is really big in Italy and throughout Europe. I decided to get hot chocolate because I do not like coffee. It was very rich and had a lot of flavor. The only problem with it was that it  was made with water instead of milk which I do not like because usually it loses some creaminess.

In conclusion, Italy night was super fun. It was a good way to try some food that the dining hall had never made before. I am already looking forward to the next culture night. I hope you enjoyed this article. Stay tuned for the next article.
