Review: Local Greens – Solana Beach, California

Review: Local Greens – Solana Beach, California

Hi everyone,  today I am writing a restaurant review of Local Greens. Local Greens specializes in healthy foods. They have made you own salads, smoothies, and sandwiches. I love places where you can make your own creation exactly how you like it,  so I was excited about this. I got takeout from the Solana Beach location. There is also a location in Liberty Public Market.

When I walked in, the menu was written on the wall. There was more on the menu at the resteraunt than there was online. Online they did not even mention that the resteraunt would have sandwiches.  The restaurant was not super crowded when I went. I was suppressed this because I went around dinner time.   There was only one other person there. There was also only one person working. Since there were not many people it was ok but when it is busy more workers may be needed to accommodate for more people.

For food I got a make your own salad. It had Ahi tuna, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, avocados, teriyaki  sauce, and mango salsa. I was going to get Seared Ahi, but they were out. I was a bit disappointed by this because  Seared Ahi is one of my favorite foods.   Unfortunately, the avocado was bad.  It was the darkest avocado I  had ever seen if I had gotten an avocado like that at home I would throw it away. I was upset about this because  a resteraunt should only use premium ingredients. It was supper hard and could not be cut with a fork. I had also paid extra for avocado. Here is a picture:

The teriyaki sauce was also not that good.  It was a bit too salty for me. I think that maybe it was because I added 2 scopes instead of one. I thought that one scoop would not be enough because I like a lot of sauce. Next time I will only do one scoop to make it less salty. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with this salad because of the sauce and the avocado. If I were going back, I probably would not order a salad. I was really looking forward to trying the salad and it did not meet my expectations.

To drink I got a Tropical Bloom Smoothie. The smoothie was very good. It has Organic Acai, Guarana, Mango, Strawberries, Banana, Flax Seeds, Apple Juice. It was one of the best ones I have ever had. I feel like one all the flavors taste super good together. It tasted more like acai than anything else. It had more of a juice consistency instead of smoothie. It may have melted while I was going home. If I were to go back, I would definitely  get another smoothie.

Overall, I was mixed on this place. There were some things I liked and some I did not. I do not think I would go back to the resteraunt because of the  but I would get something different. The sandwiches looked really good.

  • I don’t think I will try this place when I visit Encinitas. I love this kind of restaurant usually but rely on the freshness of the vegetables for a satisfying meal.
When to you go back to school?
