Officine Buona Forchetta is an authentic style Italian restaurant in the new Liberty Station nightlife area – Point Loma, San Diego. The occasion was Christy’s party for her coworkers. The restaurant did some pretty cool stuff so I decided to share some awesome pictures and do a review.
Custom Pineapple Chicken Pizza
Anyone who knows me knows that I love pineapple on my pizza . When we arrived to help set up the party, the manager greeted us, and asked me if I wanted anything special. Well, he asked, so I told him, and maybe he soon regretted it. After all, this is an Italian restaurant, so I confessed that nothing could ever be more special than a pineapple – chicken pizza. It turns out that he never made any pizza with pineapple before for anyone else, and it wasn’t on the menu. But still, they actually went out to the market and bought a pineapple – just for me!

It took a while for my custom pizza to arrive. The chicken was in long strips, not just little cubes of chicken you usually find on a pizza. The pineapple was sweet . The crust crunchy and the sauce tangy, a nice contrast with the sweetness of the pineapple. Both the chunks of chicken and pineapple were so big that you needed two hands to hold a slice. That made it hard to eat and the toppings would slide off if you didn’t use both hands. Besides that it was pretty good.
Pasta and Pesto Gnocchi
Generally speaking, any type of pasta is my favorite and this did not disappoint.
The pesto gnocchi was one of my favorite parts of the meal.
