The Foodie Fest at UNLV (University of Nevada, Las Vegas) is a campus event that mixes food trucks with a carnival. I went to this event, and there are similar events at different colleges that my friends have gone to. So, it can be a lot of fun, and I thought I would share the experience. Was it just food? You could say instad, so much more that you would expect!
Food
I tried a few food trucks first. I had originally wanted to come to this event because I wanted to try the food for the blog. I tried two trucks.
Sin City Wings
Intriguingly named after the city itself was “Sin City Wings.” Well, they were not all that sinful, but I got the mild wings with French fries. And, they made great food truck food. They were super juicy and not spicy which I liked. Also they were boneless which I liked. I would recommend this food truck.
Korean Food Truck
Normally I love Korean dishes, but unfortunately, this one was not that great. I did not like the sauce and the chicken in my friend Emily’s tasted burnt. I would not order from this food truck again. I was disappointed. I love Korean food, so I was a bit disappointed. I had to throw it out after a few bites. There is also a standalone restaurant of this place in the gym at UNLV . I have not gotten to try it though. I wonder if it would be better than the food truck here. I would actually not mind going to the restaurant version though, and trying something else.
Carnival Games
There were a lot of games at this festival. You could win tickets to cash in for prizes. This was one of my favorite parts of the festival. There have never been carnival games at a UNLV event that I have been to before.
Dunk Tank
This was another super fun event. There were people running for our student government inside the dunk tank. No one in line in front of us was able to dunk the person. Then it was my friend’s turn, and that crazy lady does it! I wish I had gotten it on video because it was pretty cool.
Petting Zoo
This was my favorite part. They brought camels, bunnies, ducks, and goats. We got to pet all the animals. They were so cute and fluffy. They walked right up to you as well.
Mechanical Bull
Neither me nor my friend did this, but there was a mechanical bull. A lot of people ended up trying it. They had a competition where the person who stayed on it for the longest won a Nintendo Switch.
Overall I had a good time. This was one of my favorite on-campus events of the year so far. So, I hope it gets a repeat next year.
