Nacho Daddy Las Vegas Restaurant Review

Nacho Daddy Las Vegas Restaurant Review

Nacho Daddy is a Las Vegas original, so it is only logical that I finally, at last, do my review of this Vegas institution! This is a real review by real college students, so you know you are hearing the bottom line.

There are multiple Nacho Daddy locations around Las Vegas, including the world famous Las Vegas Strip, Allegiant Stadium, downtown Fremont Street and other spots off the beaten path. As its name implies, Nacho Daddy features Mexican comfort cuisine, but is best known for over-the-top nachos. They have been so successful around Vegas, that now there are locations in a few other cities too – Salt Lake City and Duluth, Georgia.

My first experience at Nacho Daddy was at Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL Raiders. That one features football favorite cuisine, namely nachos, and not the full menu. So to do a complete review, I headed out with my friends Emilie, Michaella, and Ben to the downtown Las Vegas Fremont Street restaurant.

For this review, I will share some of the dishes and drinks we ordered, with all our thoughts on them. So, here we go…

Drinks

Virgin Peach Margarita

I ordered a virgin peach margarita, and this was the low point of the excursion. Unfortunately, it was not good. It was super bitter and did not taste like peach. I normally love peach drinks, so this was disappointing. I was expecting it to be a lot sweeter.

Food

Vegan Nachos

Vegan Nachos

Michaella ordered some of the vegan nachos for everyone to share. It had black beans, house-made vegan queso, vegan sour cream, avocado lime salsita, salsa fresca, pico de gallo, fresh guacamole & pickled jalapenos. The vegan cheese was good. Of course real cheese is made of milk, and cannot be vegan. So this was artificial cheese, which normally I do not like. But surprise, I liked this one. The nachos as a whole were quite spicy and great for spice lovers, like my friends Emilie and Michaela. For Ben and I, however, a little less heat on the nachos would have gone a long way. All in all, the vegan nachos are a great choice.

Fajita Nachos

My entre was the fajita nachos. They were an elaborate nachos creation, with filet mignon, peppers, onions, refried beans, melted Cheddar & Jack cheese, cherry tomato Pico de gallo, shredded lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, & pickled onions. I liked these nachos a lot. The melted cheese over everything made it delicious, and the refried beans were excellent.  If I had to make one criticism, it would be that the portion was way too big for me to finish, so bring a big appetite with you!

Filet Mignon Tacos

Stake Tacos

Emilie ordered the Filet Mignon tacos. She said that the filling was good, but she did not like the tortilla. She thought it had a weird texture. She ended up just eating the filling without the tortilla.

Dessert

Churros Sundae

Emilie and I both got the Churro Sundae. It had churros, raspberry sauce, chocolate sauce, and caramel sauce with vanilla ice cream and wiped cream on top. I liked it a lot. Emilie thought it was weird to call it a Sunday because it did not have banana like a normal Sunday.

Overall I thought the restaurant was ok. The portions were a bit too big, and the drink was not good. I would go again but I  would order something else.
